NEXTBUILT 2026, the international conference on “Challenges for the NEXT Gen BUILT environment”, will take place in Bologna on 4–5 June 2026.
This edition puts the spotlight on housing as a pressing social and economic challenge, from affordability and resilience to climate adaptation and the realities of ageing building stock and rising construction costs.
The conference brings together researchers, designers, and policymakers working in the built environment to share lessons learned and explore pathways for the next generation of housing across four core topics, including affordability and equity, liveability and health, innovation in processes and services, and materials reuse and impacts.
Over two days, the programme combines keynote lectures in plenary sessions with parallel topic sessions, and it also features a “Research to Market” activity plus a dedicated social moment.
The venue is Palazzo Magnani (Via Zamboni 20), with the event organised by the University of Bologna, Department of Architecture, and hosted physically in Bologna, with remote participation available for those who cannot attend in person.
